Inn or Hotel - Is there a difference?

When planning a vacation and where to stay, it is necessary to investigate the possibilities. Some people prefer a more modern facility with all of the amenities as well as luxury. For some who are on a budget or desire simplicity, a place with the basic amenities, such as a place to sleep and meals alone, may be important. For others, it may be the desire to feel as if they were home that is important to them. Thinking about these things in advance can save you from disappointments when you arrive at your planned destination.

For instance, a hotel may offer all the amenities a traveler desires, such as swimming pool, gymnasium, salon, gift shops or restaurants. It may be located in a big city or near the tourist attractions. The inn, otherwise known as a bed and breakfast is usually located near a tourist attraction or famous landmark, such as the mansions in Newport, Rhode Island or Plimouth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts. An inn is more informal than a hotel, as it is usually located in a historical house which has been converted into a place of accommodations for travelers. It offers a warm, friendly environment and the opportunity to get to know the people who work there. The staff is smaller that what a hotel would offer, as many of the owners prepare the meals or do the housekeeping. In some inns, guests share the bathrooms

The Inns on Bellevue are modeled after the European Inns and are located in historical houses. Comprised of three houses, the Inn on Bellevue, Bellevue House , and Bellevue Manor, the Inns are decorated in the Victorian style with Queen Anne beds and European art on the walls. At the Cafe Modiano,  located at the Inn on Bellevue,  guests can experience a European stlye continental breakfast, inside or on the sidewalk.

New Developments

IBV%20Entry.JPGWe are writing to bring you up to date on the developments at our Inn. We have served over 18,000 customers since 2001. Our current project includes remodeling of several of the bath rooms at all of the inns. Plans are also underway to install Jacuzzi’s. We have a very busy year ahead of us.

In the past, we received a few unfavorable reviews from people who had visited us. We are deeply sorry that the visit was not what the guest expected. Over the years, we have taken steps to complete renovations and make repairs as soon as we became aware of them. I am happy to inform you that the inn is very different from the way it was when we first opened, as we continue to make renovations, year after year. As you know, our inns are historical places and much of the original architecture still exists. We have tried not to disturb the original structure as we want to maintain the historical nature of the buildings.

For those of you who continue to visit us year after year, we thank you for coming and we hope to see you soon. We have many weddings booked so far and we welcome tour groups and other visitors as well. From our new romantic rooms with natural stone bathrooms to our suites which accomodate up to six people, we offer a variety of accommodations, still remaining the best value for Downtown Newport.  Feel free to visit our website to see the pictures of the rooms and read about the history behind the inns. If we can help you with anything, please do not hesitate to call.
